"Thanks, you just saved the Hall of Heroes and freed the Lost Souls! However, fate just so has it that another hero on your team got 3 greens (for no reason imparticular), while you got none, therefore, you lose.'
Seriosuly, that's what it feels like. You might have saved the whole place, but you will still feel like a loser with no green drops who wasted 3 hours of their life.
Not complaining, I'm suggesting an improvement. How else will the game get better without feedback from the community?

Everyone plays for fun (i hope), but it still doesnt change the fact u will feel annoyed not getting a reward for your efforts. Incidently thats why computer games are fun for most people, getting rewarded for there efforts. Whether its satisfaction at beating something difficult or whether its the joy of getting a new weapon to play around with. Just look at Iron Mines now (its bugged btw since the update), you just spent 1 hour and beat the whole mission, but due to the new bug u cant progress in your game, "oh but it doesnt matter, it was fun, lets do it again, yipee!". Yea im sure u we feel real great doing it again for fun

It's, uh, not actually that much fun.
If the enemies varied a bit more, sure, but I'm not an enormous fan of killing group after group of Grasps/Scythes or Terrorwebs/Riders. They seriously need more than four enemies in there.
To be fair, the Wurms were a nice surprise.

Even if they just changed it so that a green drops for each person that came, and then have a random chance for extra greens to drop for random people. People would still get multiples, but nobody would be leaving empty handed and feeling like hell.
It was fun the first time going in. Being surprised. Exploring a new area. But then I got nothing. After 3 hours. I sold everything in my inventory and made 1k...I can make 1k in 10 minutes other places. The only reason I would go back there would be to get one of those greens. I would love one of them. I still haven't gotten the SF greens I wanted for my characters.

I definately definately agree that everyone in the group (both in PvP HoH and in PvE HoH) should get one item. Only one item, but one item. (I'm speaking of the "big loots" at the end.) It's not fair for everyone to put forth sometimes hours of their time and then walk out empty handed while the other guy gets a shitload of money or something. I personally refuse to do these two areas because every time I've done them, I've not gotten a goddamn thing. And as much as I love wasting my time, I'd rather not.
In such areas as the HoH's, there should DEFINATELY be an equal loot distribution. Nobody should walk away with nothing. If nothing else it'll help lower the prices on the wicked drops and what not.

i agree that at the end only one green drop should be assigned to one person. therefore one person can't get more than one.
first hoh pve trip i went someone in my group for 3 greens, while me and another player got none. >.>

We had several stops and starts - disconnects, leavers, etc - in all-guild groups. I was in two successful trips myself, but others in the guild went more than that I believe.
First time, I was monking (as usual). After 3 hours of very grueling work mending ailments, removing hexes, healing spike damage every which way you looked, ... absolutely nothing. No ectos, no eternals, no greens. I was ready to cry. I'm glad my guildies all got good stuff, and one of them gave me some green gifts. But nothing feels the same as when something drops for you.
The other monk got nothing also.
Second time, monking again. Nothing, nothing, get all the way to the end, and I get... the Ogre Slaying Knife. (Found out later people were selling this item for a lot, but I was so exasperated at the 1-4 damage and all that effort healing AGAIN I just gave it to a guildie who got nothing--except ectos earlier on.)
I had never put much stock in the notion that monks don't get as many drops because they aren't participating in the killing of things. Discussing it with my monkly friends over the weekend, though, and their experiences? I may change my mind.

So imagine this change had been implemented from the start. Instead of this thread, we would now be reading one about how people felt cheated because everyone else got Victo's Golden Goose of Cash Generation, while they got The Green Cheeseknife of Ogre Exfoliating
Random drops mean that there will always be disparity. Take it on the chin and go in again- over a period of time the drops even out. Good players able to achieve consistent success should get their reward eventually.
I appreciate that where this theory falls down is that many good players cannot dedicate that many solid blocks of time, so will not be able to play the numbers game.
As far as I'm concerned, I've been down there with several awful, rushing groups who lasted about 3-5 minutes each, and two really good groups. The second of the good ones (last night) had 3 people leave and still made it to the final level, when Net Err 7 cut me off after we cleared 2/3 of the Hall. I am gutted, but not because of missing green drops; after 2.5 hours with these guys and seeing them work their butts off it was horrible to feel I had let them down.
Money is easy to get in this game, but that isn't what keeps me playing- it is the camaraderie between a good group. The new HoH builds that better than most pve areas.

I've just realised that the greens already drop roughly (numerically speaking) one per person in a full team (usually six or seven greens). What's the harm in evenly distributing them?

I'm sorry, but I have to take issue with "over time the drops even out." For example, one of the monks I know has done this 7 times and not gotten any drops. Zero. No Ogre Knives, nothing. Take that 7 times 3 hours on average, and you get one guy who swears he's never going in again. In Sorrow's Furnace, it's not so bad, but to spend 3 hours on something difficult and get nothing, that's just pure evil.

Well.. IDK... I may not have got a green every single time... no but I have got ecto almost every trip down... so that in and of itself is worth it... anyways... what ever blows your skirt up... Its 3 1/2 hr mission... if you put in the time and don't get anything does not mean that will be the case next time. THIS IS THE WAY ALL GREENS IN THE GAME SHOULD BE. you have got to EARN them... not farm them to death...

Yea I agree with you, I was using my nuker in a party with six ppl + they all died while I managed to run away in the end + rebirth everyone so we could finish The Darkness mesmer bosses. We did + guess what I got for saving the whole team? ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING! An utter waste of 3 hours with not so much as a phantom key dropping for me . I think we can all agree that improvement is seriously needed.

Prehaps one of the problems plaguing PvE as it stands is the loot distribution. Teamwork as it stands, is a joke. I've played with very few people that will wait until an entire mob is cleared before grabbing their loot. Often at times, will walk through AoEs and jeopordize the fight all because of a single drop. Not to mention players who will take the time to write out what just dropped, even though everyone can see it, instead of keeping their priorities straight.
A full group of 8 has few benefits. You get minimal amounts of experience, and the loot is skim. You could spend a few hours in Fissure of Woe or The Underworld and at least get some decent experience from the quests quickly. But what does Tombs provide? With a group of 8, you're looking at roughly 2 hours for a shot at some sweet loot. That's it. A game that is supposed to be about skill has this area where the main focus is to acquire some powerful item. That in its own sense isn't right. Skill over items, then make the end reward the same for everyone.
Good majority of players in PvP assume rank = skill. In PvE, some people assume Fissure of Woe armour = skill. By competing in Heroes' Ascent after each match each player gets their fame, their share of the reward that came from the effort. You play in Fissure of Woe and The Underworld in attempts to acquire the materials for what players preceive as PvE skill. Each player is putting out the effort... but not sharing in the spoils. It's only natural that PvE is in the shape it's in today as a result. Farming builds pop up more than team builds, the individual has a higher priority. Make the end reward the same in both aspects and prehaps there won't be the need for solo play. Why spend hours in hopes of getting one particular item when you could've spent that time more productively?

that is a terrible elitist thing to say, how is it fair that people spend that much time and get nothing? hmm? sure it might be 'fun' to some, but lets face it, this game is mostly about reward.

well i cant agree with u Racthoh. i think implementing tombs uw was a great idea, and this area isnt about green farming as u can think. yes, for huge amount of ppl forming uw clearing groups in old tombs green loot is a bait in the mousetrap they cant resist but in order to get their precious greens they have to actually do smth - not just buy 5 sup runes and -50hp item, google the build and pay 1k for entrance lol, au countraire - they have to DO SMTH, and even more important - they have to do it for quite long time, they have to think about what they're doing and try to interact with teammates. did u ever try to bring newly ascended players with u for monuments run in old uw? how many ppl were effective in chaos planes f/ex, assuming they managed to get rid of their dp killing smites and helpless benemoth? unfortunately finishing uw monuments run gives u 10k exp reward - and thats it. so basically after 2 or 3 frustrating attempts majority just give up.
new uw gives great chance for traning - u have to kill same mobs over and over, yes, and it means that mb they'll be able to finally understand what they're doing wrong and adapt their build and strategy - and after that mb ppl start using landscape for their benefits - trust me not alot of tanks (especially wammos with mending) understand clearly how to use corners while aggroing, or how to block stairs or even WHY block stairs at all... as u can notice thats ppl who spend 3+hrs clearing uw who voice teir disappointment after getting no drops, ppl who can clear uw in 40min-1,5hrs are able to do 2-3 runs and get their loot, but in order to be that efficient they had to spend their time learning how to play. so - they alrdy invested their time and got their skills and now they're getting benefits - pretty fair what do u think?
so - it dosnt matter why they're scrambling their way through new uw - they're getting experience and thats what matters... and greens are just a bonus, only victo's items actually worth 50-100k now, if u think that 1 of new greens is critically important for running ur build u can buy it in tombs 1 for 5-20k easily. i've finished alot of uw runs for now and i got greens in 2 runs only, but its ok. i think that gold items from chests in new uw are way better that new greens, and i wish more keys drop... ecto drop rates depend on amount of farmers - if u're playing late nite (say after midnite) when not so many ppl are farming, drop rate is pretty high, but of cos in evening hours when evrbdy's farming tombs ecto drops are minimal... i guess that amount of ecto droppping in certain area is fixed and the less groups are entered this area the higher their chances to get ecto. at least it was true for shard drops in fow - if ur group enters fow be4 we lose favor and stays there for hour or more shards start raining, every pack of mobs drop 1-2 shards, plus ruby/sapp and gold items. huge amount of solo farmers decrease total ecto drop rate in old uw. in couple weeks farming rage will stabilize alittle (i hope ) and i think that ecto drops will increase.
